IDEC BROUGHT TOGETHER 450 PEOPLE FOR THE TRADITIONAL LEG OF LAMB AT FRANCE’S LARGEST LOGISTICS PROJECT

11 July 2018

IDEC invited its clients, partners, workers and associates to the traditional leg of lamb ceremony at France’s largest logistics project currently being built by its teams at Tournan en Brie (Seine-et-Marne). This friendly gathering with a lot of special events brought together 450 people.

Leg of lamb cooked in a cauldron of tar: the tradition continues

Nine months after work began on France’s largest logistics warehouse developed by GAZELEY and ARGAN for CONFORAMA, IDEC invited all of those involved in this exceptional project to the traditional leg of lamb ceremony. Its clients, partner firms and builders, who work at the site every day, as well as its associate workers attended this symbolic event celebrating how work is advancing, with in particular, the first phase due to be completed in September. “The goal is to place men at the heart of the project in particular with our corporate social responsibility measures. We want to thank all the workers who have done so much at this site in spite of the tricky conditions over the past nine months,” explained Tony MORAIS, Managing Director of IDEC.

A day that was full of surprises

This day where people could get together in a friendly atmosphere saw many special events for the 450 guests to enable them to discover every little detail of this project measuring almost 200,000 m². A small train offered the opportunity of a guided tour through the 2 km long warehouse to discover all its features. An introductory helicopter flight enabled them to appreciate the exceptional characteristics of this logistics warehouse from the air. To finish, a special lunch with the traditional leg of lamb cooked in a cauldron of tar closed the enjoyable event.

Guests were charmed

The day finished with all the guests delighted with this exceptional day, as we can see with Elizabeth BRIAND, Director of the Supply Chain for CONFORAMA. “It was a great day. It was well organised and brought together a lot of people. This was an important day at the end of the first phase of the construction, which was very demanding because of the weather conditions.”

There was a similar reaction from Oscar HERAS, Head of Construction in for GAZELEY. “The event matched the size of the project. I really appreciated the fact that everyone involved was there from the builders to the Mayor of Tournan en Brie.”

The first phase due to be handed over in September

This huge warehouse already reveals practically all of its final size. In spite of some tough winter weather conditions, construction is going to schedule. So, after the summer holidays, IDEC will be making the first phase of this 200,000 m² project available to allow the CONFORAMA brand to move into the premises, before the logistics business gets going at the site just after that. The second phase will be handed over at the end of the year before the project is completed in April 2019.
